I only just learned that cherry blossoms grow leaves after the flowers fall.
All this time, how many cherry blossoms have I simply passed by without really seeing them?
A few days ago, I saw a cherry tree with leaves and said without thinking,
“Maybe the flowers are about to bloom.”
Looking back, it’s kind of funny. I was so sure, while knowing nothing at all.
I was wrong. In my mind, all flowers followed the same order: leaves → flowers. How absurd.
Then someone next to me said,
“No, the flowers are already gone.”
Only then did I finally see it. The trees letting go of their flowers, and growing leaves instead.
Recently, I read something about the power of observation.
Looking closely, seeing what others don’t notice. I thought I understood it, but I couldn’t even truly see something right in front of me.
Maybe I should start again with what’s right in front of me.
