I lived for a long time without really having weekends.

Someone once asked me,
“What do you usually do on weekends?”

For a moment, I couldn’t answer.
I just stood there saying,
“I don’t know…”
and went home.

After I got back, I started thinking about it.
What do I actually do on weekends?

And then I realized something.
I had lived for a long time
without much difference between weekdays and weekends.

When I worked at a hostel,
when I worked in the kitchen,
and when I worked as a guide,
I often worked on weekends.

Now that I don’t have a regular job,
my life once again has little difference
between weekdays and weekends.

To be honest,
I used to like resting on weekdays.

There were fewer people everywhere,
and it was easier to take care of things
like going to the bank or handling paperwork.

My life wasn’t centered around meeting people anyway.
I never had that many plans to begin with.

But as I got a little older,
I realized that resting when everyone else rests
is actually more important than I thought.

I live alone now,
but I think if I ever have a family,
I might feel that even more.

Still, I also like the kind of life
where I work on weekends
and rest during the week.

Neither way is perfect.
They just have different advantages.
