People often say
you should dream big.
They say a big dream is a good dream.
But what does that really mean?
What makes a dream big,
and what makes it small?
Is it about having more?
Is it about going higher?
The standard is different for everyone.
For some people,
it might be having money,
getting a certain position,
having new experiences,
or owning something they’ve always wanted.
For others,
it could be something
no one around them has ever even imagined.
The same thing
can be a big dream for one person,
and nothing special for someone else.
We often say
someone has a big dream,
or that our own dream feels small.
Even if we can’t explain why,
if we’ve ever thought that way,
there must be some kind of standard
we carry inside without realizing it.
I wanted to make my own standard clearer.
So I came to a simple conclusion.
For me, there are only two things.
First,
can it reach people in a good way?
Second,
how deeply do I want it?
If those two things are there,
the size of the dream doesn’t matter much to me.
For someone,
going on an overseas trip just once
could be a big dream.
If they truly want it,
that is a big dream.
Sometimes a dream that looks small to others
can mean everything to the person who has it.
And even a small action,
if it can reach many people,
can feel big too.
As I live,
my standard may change.
But for now,
this is the one I want to keep with me.
