Why Moving Forward Might Be Easier Than Staying Still

I stopped running today.

Something felt strange.

There was a bird in the sky,
but it wasn’t moving forward.
It was just staying in one place.

Was it looking at something?
Was it observing something?

I paused, just like the bird,
and stood there watching it.

It wasn’t resting.
Its wings were moving constantly,
almost nonstop, just to stay in place.

And then I thought about this.

Maybe moving forward
is actually easier
than trying to stay still.

When birds fly forward,
sometimes they don’t even flap their wings.
They just glide,
like a bicycle moving without pedaling.

But to stay in one place,
they have to keep moving their wings.

It looks like they’re not going anywhere,
but they’re actually using more energy.

I watched the bird for a moment,
then just started running again.
